Amazon.com Product Description Keep your quick-release wheels from wandering away when parking in a risky area with the Wheel Tether from Planet Bike. Designed to thread inside a U-lock or cable lock apparatus, the security cable measures 31 inches long by 5 mm thick and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty. About Planet Bike In November of 1996, Planet Bike was founded in Madison, Wisconsin. In many ways, Planet Bike began as a social experiment that dedicated itself to doing business in a different way. Instead of being just another company that develops and sells products with profit as its end goal, Planet Bike wanted to help bring about positive change for people, their communities, and the environment. Despite being a simple machine, the people at Planet Bike have always believed that the bicycle has great potential to help improve the world and the lives of the people in it. From the start, they have embraced an alternative corporate purpose which seeks to help get more people on bicycles by making communities friendlier places for the self-propelled. By donating 25% of company profits to causes that promote and facilitate bicycle usage, Planet Bike hopes to make an impact. Social experiments aside, Planet Bike was born from the heart of a cyclist with a goal of making innovative, high quality, and practical bicycle accessories. Simply put, they strive to design and develop the best bicycle products in the world. In the company's short ten year history, they have made important product innovations within the bicycle industry. Advancements include the 4-line computer which is now a standard in the industry and the world's first self-contained HID light. Not bad for a company that ten years ago started as a one man operation. Today, while still a small company, Planet Bike continues to evolve and improve their product line with the goal of always striving to build accessories that make it easier for people to ride their bikes. Since 1996, Planet Bike's financial support of the grassroots bicycle movement has totaled $500,000. By 2010, they have made a goal to donate $1 million to organizations that are dedicated to making America a friendlier place for cyclists.

| Customer Reviews: Good enough to me June 21, 2010 CellCell (CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a nice, low cost additional security item. I am happy with the product because I'm using this to secure my seat. I'm not parking my bike in some "bad areas" so this is good enough for me, but I'm not sure if I will trust a 5mm cord alone to secure my bike wheels.
Animal Planet eel Tether May 18, 2010 Bartok Kinski (Prague) 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
I use this to lasso wild chickens in the forest of Borneo. Also to tie up domesticated pigs and tether eels. Most animals won't mind but don't use this for long periods of time because it can cause skin rash, since it is a Cable (5mm x 31 Inches), also don't use this for tethering electric eels.
The electric eel (Electrophorus electricus), is an electric fish, and the only species of the genus Electrophorus. It is capable of generating powerful electric shocks, which it uses for both hunting and self-defense.
Inexpensive Protection but Works June 27, 2009 Picky (Michigan, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I installed this on my daughter's bike for use in college. When you install, you attach one end to the frame and wind the other around the seat post before attaching to the seat so that there is not enough slack to pull the seat completely out of the post. You have to dissassemble the seat to attach the cable, then reassemble. By the way, buy a regular nut to replace the quick-release for the seat. Why make it easier for a thief.
Thieves could reverse the assembly process to steal the seat or cut the cable if they are carrying a cable cutter but this hasn't happened. Instead, they go to another bike that doesn't have the cable. My daughter has come back to her bike to find the seat loosened but still there. I assume whoever tried to take the seat didn't notice the cable from the start.
thinner than I expected June 12, 2009 C. Alonzo (Somerville, MA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The cable was a lot thinner than I expected from just looking at the picture. I should have pulled out a ruler to see what 5 mm (~1/5 inch) looks like before ordering. In any case, I think it does well enough deterring casual thieves. I use it to tether my front wheel to a u-lock on through the rear wheel -- it's just long enough for that purpose. It was cheap, so I'm not really complaining
bike lock June 4, 2008 Dan Haslam (Seattle) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A little wimpy for the cord strength, but I think it will do the job for seat security and the price was right.
